The Indian Premier League (IPL), over the years, has given opportunities to many who look at it as a stepping stone in their careers to excel at a higher level. The league has been fortunate to shape careers of not only the local talent but even some overseas players have been reaped rewards on the back of quality performances in the league.
Lungi Ngidi, one of the emerging stars from the Rainbow Nation, who rose to fame after his splendid bowling spell against India in his debut Test match, was one of the latest admirers of the craze for the game in the country. Ngidi was bought by Chennai at this year’s auction to help them sort out their death bowling woes. The Proteas‘ pacer did get the opportunity in few games and was praised by the skipper after his decent outings with the ball.
Appreciates the passion among kids for the game
There’s no denying the fact that the game of cricket is loved by many in this country. People adore their national heroes and want to take up the sport in order to follow their footsteps. Ngidi, in of his latest Instagram stories, acknowledged the fact that motivates kids to play the game with utmost love and respect towards it.
The speedster was in Pune and went to one of the local clubs, following his training regime. He was moved by the act of kids playing in some of the adverse conditions. He felt humbled by the experience of being among them and realized the passion that they hold towards this sport.
He shared a picture from one of the clubs with kids asking for his autographs as he signs bats and caps for the future flag bearers of the nation. “Today I had to train and went to one of the local cricket clubs, I was humbled by the experience seeing the conditions these guys trained and played in without a complaint, I really saw kids that love cricket..a really touching experience #deccangymkhana, ” the Instagram story read.
