Lungi Ngidi picks four Indians and four South Africans in his all-time XI side
For the opener's spot, the pacer picked the Proteas white-ball skipper Quinton de Kock along Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma.
The coronavirus threat has led players to stay at home. This has allowed them a much-required rest, which they generally don’t get. This quarantine time has also created a new trend. Many players have been seen picking up their all-time favourite XIs.
South African pacer Lungi Ngidi also joined in and made his all-time XI which he has with and against. The list consisted of four Indians, four South Africans, one Australian, one Afghanistani and one English player. Ngidi’s best XI was posted by Cricket South Africa from their official Twitter handle.
For the opener’s spot, the pacer picked the Proteas white-ball skipper Quinton de Kock along Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma. Both the batsmen have been in top form with the bat for the past couple of years and have been performing consistently well at the top of the order. For no. 3 spot, Ngidi chose the Indian captain Virat Kohli. Most of the players going around the world would actually choose Kohli in at that spot.

Next in line came, two of the most prolific batsmen in the South African cricket over the decade, Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers. Ngidi kept Faf at no. 4 while putting de Villiers at the no. 5 spot. For the wicket-keeper’s role, Ngidi went for former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. The Protea pacer was also part of the Chennai Super Kings team when they won the IPL in 2018.
Ben Stokes was the only English player who found his way in Lungi’s side. He was also the all-rounder in the side. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan was the only spinner in the side.
Followed by that, Ngidi went with three quality pacers. He chose his South African teammate Kagiso Rabada. The other two pacers were India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Australian speedster Josh Hazelwood.
Lungi Ngidi has been envisioned as one of the bowlers who can have a bright future in international cricket. The 24-year-old made his international debut during India’s tour of South Africa 2017-18. He has played five Tests and picked up 15 wickets. In 26 ODIs, he has picked up 53 wickets. He has also picked up 24 wickets in 13 T20Is.
