It has been all about Mayank Agarwal in the ongoing Indore Test between India and Bangladesh. The Karnataka batsman has smashed records during his marathon knock of 243 runs. Rather Mayank threw his wicket away in an attempt to hit the ninth six of the innings. However, it seems that he was just following Rohit Sharma’s instructions of going for six off almost every delivery.
Mayank Agarwal dominated the proceedings for the whole day on Friday and entertained the spectators with crisp strokeplay. He got to his century soon after lunch and after tea, the 28-year-old went past the 200-run mark piling up on the agony of Bangladesh bowlers.
Virat Kohli instructed Mayank to go for his maiden triple century as well. However, when he was on 210 a hilarious incident took place. Rohit Sharma came out of the dressing room gesturing the batsmen to go for back-to-back sixes. Rather, Rohit’s actions indicated as if he was suggesting to finish things off today itself.
And what followed in the middle was absolute carnage. The duo of Mayank and Ravindra Jadeja slammed 56 runs off 32 deliveries after that gesture from Rohit.
Rohit Sharma’s actions leave everyone in splits
It seemed as if Mayank Agarwal was planning to get to his triple century on Friday itself. Unfortunately, he got out in an attempt to smack Mehidy Hasan for his ninth six of the innings. Abu Jayed, stationed at deep mid-wicket, took a very good catch. Mayank amassed 243 runs off just 330 deliveries and his knock was laced with 28 fours and 8 massive maximums.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma instructing the batsmen, especially, Mayank Agarwal to go for sixes was captured by the camera and the video is going viral on social media. Everyone around including Virat Kohli in the Indian camp were left in splits looking at Rohit’s actions.
As far as the Test match is concerned, India seem to be in no hurry to declare their first innings and have extended their lead over 300 runs. Bangladesh bowlers are looking extremely tired and they too seem to be waiting for the inevitable declaration.
