Maharashtra batsman Pritam Patil scores triple century in a 50-over game

Pritam Patil, a Maharashtra batsman playing for PYC Hindu Gymkhana smashed a record breaking 306 in a 50-over game yesterday in Maharashtra Cricket Association’s (MCA) senior invitation league. The batsman took as little as 134 balls to achieve this feat.

Playing against Nanded, Patil helped PYC amass 594 runs in the first innings. The massive score not only took a toll on the Nanded bowlers but also made the batsmen crumble under the pressure of chasing a 500+ tareget. Nanded was bowled out for a paltry 86 in 18.4 overs which meant PYC won the contest by a staggering 508 runs, another record.

Patil’s 306 consisted of as many as 28 fours and 26 sixes. “This is definitely the highest score by an individual in a 50-over match. Additionally, the win margin of 508 runs is also a record in itself for a 50-over game,” claimed PYC coach RanjtPande.

Pande added that, “He (Patil) literally massacred the attack. Nanded’s bowling was average, but nevertheless they were the best selected players of their district.”

Apparently, star Maharashtra batsman, Kedhar Jadhav, who was watching his partner bludgeon the bowling from the other end, offered to gift him a new SS bat worth Rs. 25,000 if he reached 300. Well, as we all know now, Pritam Patil has etched his name in cricket history, and also earned the gift from Kedar.
