English quick Jofra Archer’s participation in the 15th season of IPL couldn’t be possible due to a stress fracture. He came into the light in 2018 when he was picked by Rajasthan Royals. After that, the pacer delivered some magnificent performances in BBL for Hobart Hurricanes and in T20 Blast for Sussex as well.

In the mega auction for IPL 2022, he was bought by five-time champions Mumbai Indians winning the bidding war against SRH and RR in the competition. Speaking on his participation in this season and next season as well, Mumbai head coach Mahela Jayawardene has updated the cricket fans and the ones who are willing to watch the pacer in action.

Jofra’s availability for the next season is too far ahead at the moment: Mahela Jayawardene

Two years back in ICC Men’s World Cup 2019, Archer played at home for England. He was the one who bowled the super over in the final against New Zealand at the mecca of cricket, Lord’s. But things went south for him when he was playing an away series against India in March 2021 as he suffered an elbow injury which resulted in his ruling out from the 2022 season.

Former Sri Lankan captain and current head coach of MI, Jayawardene stated that both MI and ECB are minutely monitoring the progress of Barbados-born speedster.

“Jofra’s availability for the next season is too far ahead at the moment. Our experts will keep an eye on his fitness along with those in the ECB. It is a new injury and not an old one, so hopefully, recovery should be quicker for him. We’ll see how he progresses from this injury,” Jayawardene said in the press conference ahead of MI’s next game, against DC.

This season went like a nightmare for Mumbai Indians as Rohit Sharma and his boys have been already eliminated from the tournament after consecutive eight defeats in their first eight games. Rohit has shared this miserable record with the Pakistan national captain Babar Azam who also lost similar number of matches while captaining his franchise in PSL earlier this year.
