Sunil Gavaskar’s comment on Virat Kohli playing cricket with Anushka Sharma during lockdown has created a stir. He said so while commentating in Hindi during the match 6 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). After Gavaskar was misquoted on social media, his comment went viral and has been blown out of proportion.

Moreover, even Anushka Sharma came up with a long Instagram story asking an explanation from the cricketer-turned-commentator for accusing her for her husband’s game. And Bollywood actress Zareen Khan has also come out to criticise the 71-year-old stating that such comments doesn’t suit him being such a legendary cricketer.

She asked him that being a cricketer, even he must have gone through bad days in his career and also pointed out if Sunil Gavaskar’s wife was ever accused for his poor performance on the field. While speaking in support of her colleague Anushka Sharma, Zareen also mentioned in her statement that the former is never praised when Virat Kohli does well on the field and is only targeted when she fails.

“Mr. Sunil Gavaskar, you are a cricket legend and making such a distasteful comment on Mr. Virat Kohli regarding his wife doesn’t suit you. Being a cricketer yourself once upon a time, I’m sure you know that there are good days and bad days. I’m wondering if your better half was ever accused if you didn’t perform well on the field.

“Also, I don’t remember Anushka being praised for all the great performances Mr. Virat Kohli has given on the field till date. So why now?” Zareen Khan wrote in her statement.
