Mamata Banerjee wishes Sourav Ganguly a speedy recovery after the latter suffers a mild cardiac arrest

Mamata Banerjee, also took to her official Twitter handle to drop a message for Ganguly and wished him good health.

The entire cricket fraternity was left stunned when it was reported that the former Indian captain and the president of BCCI Sourav Ganguly suffered a mild cardiac arrest. Earlier on January 2, Saturday, Ganguly was rushed to the famous Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital in Kolkata after he complained of chest pain and experienced dizziness while he was exercising in the gym.

Ganguly underwent angioplasty in the evening and it is learned that the former captain is now stable. Journalist Boria Majumdar had greeted the fans with the good news of Ganguly’s health getting stable at the hospital.

“Good news. He is stable. Stent has been placed. What I am told in this: “infero lateral wall myocardial infarction Right Coronery Artery stenting done. He is presently fine” Woodlands sources. @SGanguly99 thank god,” Boria had tweeted.

As the news of Ganguly’s health had surfaced on social media, a number of cricketers including Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shreyas Iyer, and many more had wished for the speedy recovery of the legendary cricketer on social media. The chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, also took to her official Twitter handle to drop a message for Ganguly and wished him good health.

“Sad to hear that @SGanguly99 suffered a mild cardiac arrest and has been admitted to hospital. Wishing him a speedy and full recovery. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family!” Mamata Banerjee.

Sourav Ganguly’s career at a glance

Sourav Ganguly is renowned as one of the greatest captains in the history of Indian cricket. The man is responsible for changing the way people look at the game of cricket in India and he instilled the fighting and aggressive spirit in the players as, under his leadership, India won at home and overseas.

The West Bengal Stalwart had successfully led the Indian side to the prestigious NatWest Trophy in 2002 and had also created history by winning a Test series against Pakistan on Pakistani soil in 2004. Under Ganguly, India had also reached the final of the 2003 World Cup but had failed to lift their second Cup after losing to Australia.

Sourav Ganguly is hailed as one of the most distinguished batsmen ever produced by India. In his glorious international career of 13 years, which spanned from 1996 to 2008, the 48-year-old amassed a whopping 7212 runs in the purest format of the game in 113 fixtures at an average of 42.2. The left-handed batsman also has 11,363 One Day under his belt in 311 games at an average of 41 and strike rate of 73.7.
