'Managing Mumbai Indians at age 44 changed my perception towards sports' - Nita Ambani

It will not be an aberration to say that the Indian Premier League has been one of the biggest revolutions in India in the 21str century. Not only has it served as a breeding ground for young and upcoming cricketers to showcase their talent on a world stage, but it has also become a brand from which sports in India have fed off and have created their own franchise-based leagues.
The IPL has created a league-culture in this country, paving way for the formation of the likes of Indian Super League, Pro Kabaddi, Premier Badminton League. Running a franchise requires a plethora of skills. It requires the ability to handle different personalities, manage egos while at the time ensure smooth functioning of each and every part of the set-up. And, few have been better than Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani.
Ambani opened up about managing the Mumbai Indians franchise changed her perception towards sports. Ambani said that she realized the power of sports and what it does to us and our children and how channelizes our inner-energy to do better things besides teaching us how to win and lose gracefully.
“I was 44 when I took over managing Mumbai Indians. That changed the perception of what sport does to you and does to children. It channelized their energy to do better things. It teaches them how to lose and how to win gracefully,” Ambani told India Today.

Nita Ambani also opened up about how she wants to be at the forefront of the process that will eventually lead to India hosting the Olympic games in the future so that the upcoming generation of the country’s talent can get the opportunity to realize their potential on the world stage. But, Ambani is someone who believes in the importance of starting from the grassroots; something he has always done during her time at the Mumbai Indians.
“So that’s how I started my thing saying what we really need to do is go to the grassroots and take things from there,” Ambani added.
Speaking of Mumbai Indians, the defending champions are the most successful sides [4 titles] in the history of the competition and Ambani will hope that by the time the upcoming season comes to an end, her team will be basking in a record 5th triumph.
