Manchester blast forces BCCI to call emergency meeting

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced an emergency meeting this morning following the recent strikes in England. The city of Manchester was rocked with a blast recently on Monday which has forced the Indian cricket board to call for preparatory measures. The Indian team is expected to leave for England for their title defense in the upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy.
Talking about the explosion, the severe attack took place during a concert of singer Ariana Grande. The concert was taking place in Manchester, England on Monday late night. Great Manchester Police department were quick to confirm that as many as 19 people were killed in the explosion and close to 50 people were severely injured in the attack that took place at the renowned Manchester Arena.
Incidentally, the explosion has certainly brought the cricket fraternity to a standstill since England is due to host the Champions Trophy in less than 2 weeks. Also, the venue for the matches of the Indian team is close to Manchester. This is the prime reason, as per the reports in Wahcricket, why the BCCI has summoned all the senior officials to an emergency meeting today. The meeting will see the officials review complete details of the tour for the Indian team.
Monitor the entire schedule
They will monitor the practice sessions, traveling, and also the team hotels in the meeting. Team India is expected to play two warm-up matches before the tournament proper that commences on June 1. The first warm-up match will be played against New Zealand on May 28 and the second one will be played on May 30 against Bangladesh.
There will definitely be security concerns since the arch-rivals India and Pakistan are scheduled to lock horns in their first game of the tournament on June 1 in Birmingham. In the last few years, things have not been on a good note between the two sides and the political tensions could well see the extremists target the big game.
