Mandeep Singh picks his top five IPL batsmen, includes Virat Kohli in the list

The outbreak of COVID-19 outbreak has halted sporting scenario across the world. The much-awaited IPL 2020 has also been postponed indefinitely and cricketers are left with no choice but to train indoors and spend time with their family. Before the resumption of the sporting activity, several cricketers are also resorting to Instagram live sessions to provide their fans with some entertainment.

In such trying times where everyone is spending time in isolation, CricTracker decided to catch up with Mandeep Singh an Instagram live session. The Punjab batsman answered a varied range of questions during the session. Mandeep, who has shared the dressing room with many batting stalwarts like AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, and Chris Gayle, spilt the beans on his Top 5 IPL batsmen.

Since the inception of the Indian Premier League, many batsmen have enthralled the crowd with their breathtaking knocks. IPL has witnessed many explosive match-winners so far and Mandeep chose his top five batsmen. To start with, Mandeep chose the skipper of his former franchise RCB. Mandeep went with Virat Kohli as the first name.

Earlier, Mandeep had also showered praise on the Indian skipper while stating that his hunger to score runs is exceptional. Mandeep had also lauded Kohli’s work ethics and the hard work which he puts in his game.

The second name in Mandeep’s list was his another RCB teammate AB de Villiers. The South African stalwart has proved his mettle at multiple occasions and has struck many explosive knocks in the history of the league.

The next two names in Mandeep’s list were two explosive openers– David Warner and Chris Gayle. Both the southpaws have the potential to turn any match in their side’s favour on the back of their explosive batting. Both Warner and Gayle have decimated many bowling forces with their batting at multiple times.

To finish off, Mandeep went with the Caribbean all-rounder Andre Russell. The West Indies international was in sensational form in the last season where he struck 510 runs and scalped 11 wickets while donning the Kolkata Knight Riders jersey.

Mandeep was set to don the Kings XI Punjab jersey in the thirteenth edition of the IPL. However, considering the current situation, there’s no certainty over the commencement of the league. Previously, Mandeep donned the RCB jersey for four years before shifting to Kings XI Punjab in 2019. In a career spanning over 97 matches, Mandeep has smashed 1529 runs at a strike rate of 124.71 in the IPL. The right-hander also has five half-centuries under his belt.
