Yesterday Pakistan arrested Indian Air Force wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman. When the confirmation about his arrest was received, a lot of Indians were concerned about his well being. Even though Pakistan released some videos which showed that he is doing fine, but still everyone was worried about him. On Thursday, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan confirmed that Pakistan would release him on Friday.

While some are happy about this development, others feel that Pakistan was bounded by Geneva conventions to release Abhinandan. Even the Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor, assistant chief of Air Staff clarified that this step by Pakistan would be considered as a gesture in consonance with the Geneva Conventions. This news has brought smiles to the face of many Indians who were praying for his safety.

Even cricketers came forward to air their views on the subject. One of those cricketers was fast bowler, Manpreet Singh Gony. The fast bowler tweeted today to show his support for Abhinandan Varthaman. He requested the Pakistan army to return the Indian Air Force wing commander and offered to send news anchors in a swap deal. He further wrote that the Pakistan army should feel free to do anything with the anchors.

Tweet of Manpreet Singh Gony supporting Abhinandan Varthaman

“Dear Pakistani army, return Wing Commander Abhinandan and take our news anchors, pretty much all of them. Do whatever you want to do with them and more importantly never return them to us #JaiHind #AbhinandanVartaman,” Manpreet Singh Gony wrote this on twitter.

This tweet shows that some Indians are unhappy with how media has been reporting the conflict between the two nations. Some people have alleged that the media house is doing warmongering to boost their TRPs, which is increasing the tension between India and Pakistan. Yesterday social media lashed out at the media houses for exposing the family of Abhinandan Varthaman. In the video released by Pakistan, Abhinandan refused to give details about his home. But then media reported details about his family and residence which can put them in danger.
