'Many have backstabbed Yuvraj Singh and it hurts' - Yograj Singh takes an indirect dig at Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni
He also slammed former India selector Sarandeep Singh.
Yuvraj Singh retired from all forms of the game last year during the World Cup and since then, has been making a few revelations. Recently, he claimed that he got more support from Sourav Ganguly among all the captains he played under, including MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, during his illustrious career. His father Yograj Singh who is known to make straightforward statements has also opened up on the issue now.
Yograj has previously made some serious allegations against Dhoni and blamed him for not letting his son settle in the team in the latter part of his career. This time around, he has taken an indirect dig at the current Indian skipper Kohli as well along with the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman. Rather he also went on to say that even the selectors betrayed Yuvraj Singh while also expressing that all the top cricketers deserve a great send-off.
“Along with these two , I would say that even the selectors betrayed him. I had met Ravi recently. He asked me for a photograph. I called him and pointed out that all great players should get a send-off based on their performances. When Dhoni, Kohli or Rohit retire, I would request the board to give them a good send-off as they have done so much for Indian cricket. Many have backstabbed him and it hurts,” he said while speaking to News24.
Yograj Singh takes a dig at the BCCI
Next on Yograj Singh’s radar was the former Indian selector Sarandeep Singh and alleged that he was the one who wanted Yuvraj Singh to be dropped from the team. He also slammed the BCCI for appointing the selectors who don’t know much about cricket.
“Indian selector Sharandeep Singh, he used to go to meetings and say that Yuvraj should be dropped. Such people are appointed as selectors who do not know ABC of cricket. What do you expect from them? It hurts when someone backstabs you. Everybody was worried about what would happen to them if Yuvraj continues to perform,” Yograj further added.
