Mark Wood wishes to emulate MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo
The England pacer will be hoping to make it big in the upcoming edition of the IPL.
Mark Wood has emerged a decent prospect for English cricket with his fiery seam bowling. The Northumberland-born pacer has recently played in the One Day International series against Australia followed by the triangular T20I tournament which also featured New Zealand. The right-arm fast bowler will also feature in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League. He was bagged by the Chennai Super Kings at his base-price of INR 1.5 crores.
Proud moment for Wood
The cricketer recently expressed his joy to the media and also highlighted his aspirations to emulate Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo who will also play for the Chennai franchise. “I think learning to cope in pressure situations can only help. And picking the brains of some of the legends of the game. MS Dhoni as my captain will provide a great insight and I would love to work with (Dwayne) Bravo and develop my slower ball,” Wood was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
The English pacer also said his stint with the franchise as a proud moment and hailed CSK as one of the best teams he has ever represented. “It will be an immensely proud moment for me to play for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Not only is the IPL a great competition but I also get to play for the best team! Who wouldn’t want that? I’m very lucky and hope to be a match-winner for my team,” he added.
Chennai Super Kings have gone through a rough patch in the last couple of years. They were handed a two-year suspension after being found guilty of match-fixing. However, the fact that they have been one of the most successful teams in the IPL can’t be denied. The franchise will be looking to shed their disappointment from the last couple of years and make amends in the next edition.
