Mashrafe Mortaza's latest gesture is winning hearts all over the internet

Fresh from a victorious campaign in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Rangpur Riders’ skipper Mashrafe Mortaza has touched the heart of the people of Bangladesh with a priceless gesture. The 34-year-old Norail-born cricketer had requested Rangpur Riders’ CEO, Mr. Ishtiaq Sadek, to provide an ambulance to the people of Norail, as the place lacked basic medical facilities.

The request has been granted and the cricketer has shared the news with his fans on Facebook. In association with ‘Norail Express Foundation’, the ambulance will soon be made available to the local residents. Fans lauded Mortaza’s gesture as followers flooded his social media space with positive comments.

Mortaza, who last played a Test match way back in 2009, hasn’t given up hopes of playing in the longest format of the game. The right-arm medium fast bowler has scalped 78 wickets from 36 Test matches. He has 274 wickets in limited overs cricket.

“Every player has the passion to play Test cricket. Though I am 34 now, I still have that desire to bowl in white dress. Basically, I have to take everything into consideration,” Mashrafe told Cricbuzz on Saturday (December 16).

“So it is difficult to specify when I can make the comeback but surely I will try making an attempt if everything goes according to plan. I have made substantial amount of progress in my fitness and that is giving me the ray of hope. Now I want to improve on that fitness and see where it stands. Now if I can develop my fitness and after playing first-class cricket I can make significant amount of progress, then why not make a Test comeback.”

Mortaza led the Tigers in South Africa recently, where the visitors failed to win a single game. He was disappointed and made his intentions clear about his expectations from his bowlers. The Tigers have some big outings in the coming year and an experienced campaigner in Mortaza will help them in many ways.
