Mayank Agarwal has worked very hard for Orange Cap but I'll take it off him soon: KL Rahul
KXIP are quite competitive in the 2020 season of the IPL, and the key reason behind their stunning show is the duo of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal.
The contest between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians saw the failure of the batting order of Punjab for the first time in IPL 2020. Batting first, Mumbai posted a huge 191/4 on board for KL Rahul and his men to chase. The brilliant score came on the back of skipper Rohit Sharma’s brilliant knock of 70 off 45 balls. The cameo of Hardik Pandya (30 off 11) and Kieron Pollard (47 off 20) accelerated MI’s run-flow like fire, and they eventually won the game by 48 runs.
Punjab couldn’t do much as their dangerous openers, Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul, couldn’t get anything significant in their bag. They saw the face of Super Over in their first outing against Delhi Capitals and lost a close contest. However, they remained impressive against Rajasthan by posting a huge 223 on board, but unfortunately for them, Royals’ were also in a dangerous form that day.
Their scores and fight in the game show how competitive KXIP are in the 2020 season of the IPL and the key reason behind their stunning show is the duo of Rahul and Mayank. In the 2020 season so far, the pair has contributed a whopping 485 runs collectively for their team in the four outings. It was the first time in the last match that the opening stand failed, and the whole order collapsed ultimately.
Coming up in the post-match presentation, skipper Rahul stated that his teammate and dear friend, Mayank, has worked hard to get hold of the orange cap, but he will take it back soon from him.
Unless that orange cap stays with Kings XI, I’m happy: KL Rahul
“Until and unless that orange cap stays with Kings XI, I’m happy. He’s (Agarwal) worked very hard and deserves that cap. I’m sure I’ll take it off him soon,” said Rahul as quoted by Times Now.
Mayank, who has the possession of the Orange Cap, also came forward and stole hearts with his point of view on the game. He stated– “We are not competing for the cap, we are just looking to play some good cricket. It doesn’t matter who gets the runs, be it Rahul, Maxwell, Pooran, or anyone else.” KXIP will face Chennai Super Kings in their next outing.
