Mayank Agarwal recalls an incident when KL Rahul was furious at him for hitting a six against Sunrisers Hyderabad
Agarwal also took a jibe over KL Rahul's captaincy and said that Rahul has already got angry so many times on the field in the past.
With no cricket in action due to COVID-19 outbreak, several cricketers are resorting to Instagram live to provide entertainment to their fans. The sporting scenario has come to a standstill and all major tournaments including IPL 2020 have been postponed indefinitely in the wake of the pandemic. In this stern situation, many cricketers– who were set to play in IPL 2020– are enjoying their quarantine period on Instagram and Twitter.
Many cricketers like Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Virat Kohli, Jonny Bairstow, and Yuzvendra Chahal have resorted to Instagram live so far. And, it was the Karanataka duo– KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal– who joined the trend and engaged in an Instagram live chat. Both the cricketers discussed many cricket memories and moments which have occurred during the course of their career.
The duo discussed a host of topics among which Agarwal also recalled an instance when KL Rahul abused him. Both the cricketers share a good camaderie as they have played together for Karnataka in the domestic circuit and Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League.
Mayank Agarwal also takes a jibe at KL Rahul’s captaincy venture
Agarwal also took a jibe over KL Rahul’s captaincy and said that Rahul has already got angry so many times on the field in the past. After being assigned the skipper’s role, Agarwal has no idea on how will Rahul’s behaviour be on the field.
“I was looking forward to seeing you captain the team this year. You already keep getting angry so many times on the field, now I don’t know how will you react when you will become the captain. I only get angry with you because you do stupid things on the field,” Mayank Agarwal said during the live session.
The duo recalled an incident when Rahul was furious at him during a run-chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rahul had advises Agarwal to not play a risky shot during his knock. However, Agarwal did play a risky shot over mid-wicket that marginally managed to clear the fielder.
“It was stupid cricket. You got a six, I understand but that was a very risky shot and we were not chasing a 190, we were chasing 140 and we were cruising along and I didn’t want to lose a wicket at that time. I told you very clearly before the over that if you want to take a chance, hit a four.”
“I say that five seconds back, and then you go and try to hit the first ball over mid-wicket and that was the long side of the field and you just managed to clear Vijay Shankar, I think. Not even clear, he could have easily taken the catch if he was on the line,” Rahul said.
