Speaking about the same, Lanning expressed her happiness to join the Scorchers. She stated that the team has a strong group of players who are improving their standards continuously. According to the batswoman, it is a great opportunity to be a part of the group.
The Perth Scorchers are a great Club with a strong core of experienced and up-and-coming players, so it’s a really exciting opportunity for me to join the group,” Lanning said. “They made the semi-final in WBBL|01, then the Scorchers’ hosted the final last season, so they’re definitely a team on the rise, with a bright future ahead.” she added.
The Melbourne Stars announced earlier this week that Meg Lanning has decided not to renew her contract with the team. “Whilst Meg’s decision to the leave the club is very disappointing, we remain absolutely confident that the team we’ve formed is united and committed to the club’s long term future success,” Stars chief executive Clint Cooper had said. “We thank Meg for her contribution to the club over the past two seasons and wish her and her family well for the future.”
Meg Lanning has been bothered by her shoulder throughout Australia’s World Cup campaign. After the semi final exit against India, Lanning was suggested to undergo a surgery. The batswoman will be out of action for at least a period of six to eight months.
