The ICC Awards 2017 was staged on January 18, 2018, with several players being rewarded for their exceptional cricket over the past one year. Performances between September 21, 2016, and December 31, 2017, were taken into consideration for selecting the deserving candidates for the prestigious awards.

Appreciations poured in as fans from across the globe took to social media platforms to congratulate the winners. However, standup comedian Karan Talwar who operates a Twitter handle by the name Bollywood G**** had other ideas in mind and churned out hilarious jokes on the awards. The comical incident involving Smith and Saha panned out during the third Test of Australia’s tour of India in Ranchi. The Aussie skipper inside-edged a delivery that stuck between his legs. Thereafter, the Indian wicketkeeper tried to retrieve the ball from there after which both tumbled on the ground. However, Saha didn’t give up and both ended up in an awkward position.

The infamous rift between Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble during the latter’s stint as the head coach of the Indian team is an open secret. The disagreements stimulated when the duo had contrasting opinions on the selection of Kuldeep Yadav and Karun Nair in the Test team. Things took an ugly turn when Kumble was alleged for leaking private conversions with the team to the media.

Subsequently, Jumbo stepped down from his post. Most recently, the former leg-spinner attended Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s wedding reception party in Mumbai which was heartening to see following their heated exchanges earlier that year.

In order to disturb the concentration of Steve Smith, the lanky fast bowler employed an unconventional method. He made some funny faces and mocked the Aussie skipper which became a butt of jokes on the internet.

India lost the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 when they were comprehensively humbled by Pakistan in the final. Fakhar Zaman thrashed the Indian bowlers from the outset and helped Pakistan rack up a massive total for India to chase down. However, the left-hander got a reprieve early in his innings. He outside-edged a delivery by Jasprit Bumrah that traced into MS Dhoni’s gloves.

However, replays revealed that Bumrah’s front-foot breached the bowling-crease which didn’t legitimise the delivery. Subsequently, Zaman scored his maiden century and the pacer was bashed severely by fans and became a center of trolls on social media.
