The camaraderie between two iconic names of the South African cricket, Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers, is very well known. The two cricketers have taken the South African cricket to great heights. And now that one of them has called it quits at the highest level of the game, the cricket is certainly not going to be the same for the other. AB de Villiers recently announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket.
Very few people know that AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis are childhood friends. Their journey from being prankster kids to the mainstays of the Proteas lineup has been like a fairy tale. Both the cricketers had joined the renowned Afrikaans Hoer Seunskool back in the year 1998. The school, that is popularly known as Affies, is a very well known institution for budding cricketers in South Africa.
Soon, the two players played U15 cricket and then marched on across the various levels to eventually land up playing for the South African national side. AB served the national team for 14 years in international cricket. While he has retired from the game, Faf is still not done. Faf is the current captain of the national side. The cricketing fraternity showered praises on AB de Villiers for an illustrious career that he has had over the years.
His good old friend, Du Plessis, is not far behind in wishing AB. Faf posted a picture on his social media handle and admitted that he will miss AB de Villiers in the dressing room. He expressed that it is indeed sad that they will not play for South Africa together again.
