MI Players list IPL 2021: Full Mumbai Indians squad for IPL 2021
The Mumbai Indians(MI) spent most of their purse in a bid to strengthen their bowling arsenal.
In the 2021 IPL auction, the Mumbai Indians (MI) spent most of their purse in a bid to strengthen their bowling arsenal, and it is understandable. The Rohit Sharma led side already had a strong batting lineup coming into the 2021 IPL auction, and their only area of concern (if you may call so), was their bowling lineup. And, the 5-time defending champions made sure that they strengthened their bowling attack in the 2021 IPL auction.
They bought New Zealand express pacer Adam Milne for 3.2 Crores, which was more than 6 times his base price of 50 Lakhs. They also bought Aussie pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile for 5 Crores. Interestingly, they had released Coulter-Nile ahead of the auction, but went ahead and bought him back. They added more firepower to their spin bowling department as well, by pouching leg spinner Piyush Chawla for a sum of 2.4 Crores. Jimmy Neesham was an absolute steal for them, as he was bought at his base price of 50 Lakh.
The defending champions also bought Yudvir Charak and Marco Jansen for a paltry sum of 20 lakh. And of course, their final pick was Arjun Tendulkar, the son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. And now, Arjun will follow his father’s footsteps and will feature in the Mumbai squad for the 2021 IPL edition.
Now, just think of the options that Mumbai have at their disposal as far as bowlers are concerned. They already had Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Rahul Chahar, and Krunal Pandya even before the auctions. And now, they have added Milne, who is extremely quick, Coulter Nile who is an experienced campaigner and Chawla, who can be handy with his leg spin.
Their batting lineup is looking menacing as well, with skipper Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock capable of providing the side blistering starts at the top of the order. And, with the likes of Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard in their ranks, the Mumbai side can destroy any opposition.
Ahead of the auction, the Mumbai outfit had 15.35 Crores remaining, and they spent 11.7 Crores in a bid to add more firepower to their side. All in all, the Mumbai side looks like a solid team on paper, and it would indeed be a challenge for any side to beat them in the next IPL edition as well.
