The former Australia captain Michael Clarke has revealed that he still misses the presence of the late cricket Phillip Hughes in his life. Both were very close friends and shared the dressing room for quite a while representing Australia in whites and in coloured clothing as well. Even three years after Hughes passed away Clarke feels the void of his friend and thinks of him every day during his busy schedule.

Hughes passed away on November 26 in 2014 after being hit by a bouncer bowled by Sean Abbott during the afternoon session of Sheffield Shield season. Despite wearing the helmet, he was hit in an unprotected area just below his left ear at the SCG. He was taken to the hospital soon after he had collapsed on the ground itself. Unfortunately, he couldn’t be saved and lost his life the next day sending the cricketing world in shock.

I miss him every day

Michael Clarke was at the SCG on Monday where the tragic incident happened attended a luncheon to celebrate the partnership with The Ashes and remembered his best friend on and off the field. “I think about him every day to be honest. I have a lot of stuff around my house that reminds me of him daily, so it’ll be no different on his birthday and on the anniversary of his death,” he said on the sidelines of the event.

He also revealed that the time hasn’t healed the loss of the Hughes and said that he remembers the best time they spent together every day. “I’m at this event here at the SCG, which is where he passed away. People say time heals, but unfortunately at this stage for me nothing’s really healed. I miss him every day. I try to cling on to the happy times we had together. I try to on a daily basis think about the times we celebrated, we partied, we sat on the couch, we went for coffee or had breakfast,” the 36-year-old added.
