After sealing the ODI series against New Zealand in the first three matches itself, Team India decided to experiment a little too much. The hosts opted to bowl first in favourable conditions and the visitors, playing for the first time since 2015 without Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in ODIs, succumbed to Trent Boult’s exceptional swing bowling. The left-arm pace bowler broke the back of the Indian batting to return with the figures of 5/21 and Michael Vaughan is miffed with Rishabh Pant’s absence in the Indian squad.
He felt that the explosive left-hander could’ve made the difference for the Men in Blue on the day. But Pant is not in the ODI squad at the moment and playing in the home series for India A against England Lions currently. Vaughan seems to be of the opinion that Pant needs a few more chances to prove his mettle in the coloured jersey for India after the way he played in the Test series against Australia.
Michael Vaughan took to his official Twitter handle to express himself and asked the reason for Pant not being in the ODI set-up in New Zealand. “Why isn’t @RishabPant777 getting a go in the ODIs !???” his tweet read.

Bad day for Pant as well
It seems to be a bad day for the Indian boys on the field. While the national side registered their worst defeat in the One-Day Internationals in terms of balls left, India A is not in a good position in the fifth and final One-Day either. After opting to bat first, they are currently 102/7 after 28 overs with only one of the top six batsmen getting to the double figures.
Rishabh Pant also endured a bad day with the willow as he could score only seven runs off 14 deliveries before being dismissed by Jamie Overton.
