India and Australia were up on day three of the Melbourne Test, and visitors again remained dominating by putting up a class show. Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja were on the crease, but the stand-in skipper had to leave the field due to a run-out. The run-out came on the table as Jadeja seemed in a haste to bring in his half-century. India could post 326 runs before ending their first innings.
Seeing India’s great comeback after the Adelaide Test, former English cricketer and commentator Michael Vaughan came up to laud the team’s efforts. He Tweeted that after being proved as an underdog, India bounced back well. He also gave in a strong statement by adding that if ace batsman Steve Smith doesn’t perform for Australia, the rest of the batting lineup of Australia looks too average. In the end, he appreciated the efforts of Ajinkya Rahane as a skipper.
“Humble pie for Breakfast … !!! Love the underdog proving people wrong. Also shows once again if Steve Smith struggles with the Bat, this Aussie Batting team is very average … @ajinkyarahane88 captaincy has been magnificent btw … #OnOn #AUSvIND.”

During India’s Test in Adelaide, the team was seen in low spirits as they registered their lowest ever in the Test cricket history. It became a matter of concern as to how they would mark their comeback in the Melbourne Test, especially in Virat Kohli’s absence. However, India started shining from day one as they ended the hosts’ batting show in the first innings on 195 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Ashwin remained magnificent in their areas to get the team going.
Australia had a lead of two runs by day three’s end
Rahane’s brilliant century (112 of 223) turned India’s very basis in posting a score of 326 runs on the board. Currently, Australia is up with their bat show in the second innings, where they are already six wickets down. They have gathered a lead of two runs, and Cameron Green and Pat Cummins are still on the crease.
