Michael Vaughan loved Virat Kohli's 'march' in Adelaide
Kohli's century in a difficult situation earned him Man of the Match award.
Team India won the second ODI against Australia at the renowned Adelaide Oval thus levelling the three-match ODI series 1-1. Chasing 299 off 50 overs the visitors won by six wickets with four balls to spare. The spearhead of the Indian chase was once again the chase master who is none other than Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
The 30-year-old batsman laid the foundation of the chase with a well-composed 104 runs off 112 deliveries. Although the century was on the slower side from Virat’s standards it was well paced towards the end to keep the required rate within reaching limits. The game was finally finished by former Indian skipper MS Dhoni (55 not out) and team’s new finisher Dinesh Karthik who scored a breezy 24 off 14 deliveries.
Former English cricketer Michael Vaughan showered praises on Virat Kohli after the Indian skipper smashed his 39th ODI century in the course of visitor’s victory over the hosts on Tuesday. The 44-year-old former English skipper hailed Kohli as the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT).
The English captain turned commentator on his Twitter handle urged the fans to watch him play when the match was going on. He, later, said that the second ODI between India and Australia was a proper game of cricket which had everything from testing one’s leadership skills to one’s ability to understand the situation and play accordingly.
Here’s what Vaughan tweeted
The 30-year-old, who started the ODI series by scoring just three runs, answered back his critics in some fashion as he tormented the Aussie bowlers by playing some delightful strokes. Kohli’s century in a difficult situation guiding his team to victory also earned him the Man of the Match award.
Interestingly, it was the third consecutive ton by Kohli on January 15 after doing the same against England (ODI) and South Africa (Test) in the year 2017 and 2018 respectively. The final match and the decider of the series will be played on January 18 at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The game will be India’s final match Down Under for the 2018-19 tour.
