Michael Vaughan makes a bold prediction for the Southampton Test
He told that the match will go deep into the fifth day.
The ongoing five-match Test between England and India has been an exciting one thus far. There has been no dearth of excitement as both teams have fought tooth and nail in the first three matches. The visiting team gave the Three Lions a run for their money in the opening match at Edgbaston in Birmingham but stumbled at the finishing line to lose the match by a margin of 31 runs.
The individual brilliance from the likes of Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin went in vain. The Poms were clinical in the second Test at the Lord’s- The Home of Cricket- and brushed aside Virat Kohli and Co by an innings and 159 runs. The match was interrupted by heavy downpour on a number of instances, however, it couldn’t help Kohli and Co from falling 0-2 behind in the series.
Vaughan predicts the result
Just when it seemed that Joe Root and his men got India by the scruff of their necks, India stormed back to win the third Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham and won by a mammoth margin of 203 runs. Kohli’s 23rd Test century coupled with five-wicket hauls from Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah helped India arrest their slump. The third Test will take place from today at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
Both teams have all to play for in the upcoming encounter. In the meantime, Michael Vaughan, the former English cricketer, put forth his own set of predictions. He reckons that England will recollect themselves and make a comeback after their drubbing in the erstwhile encounter.
He said “England will bounce back. In about six days the score will be 3-1. Series done and dusted; It will be a bit longer game than Trent Bridge and it will get into the fifth day.”
