Michael Vaughan predicts India and England to play T20 World Cup 2021 final

The ongoing five-match T20I series between India and England have lived up to the expectations. Both the teams have shown their strength and their ability to bounce back after a setback as the first four games could not decide the series. England won the first game by eight wickets before India won the second game by 7 wickets.

England then bounced back to win the third game by eight wickets. The Men in Blue then came up with a fine all-round performance in the must-win fourth game to win it by seven runs and keep the series alive. The fate of the series will be decided by the ongoing fifth and final game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Michael Vaughan’s prediction

As India and England are taking on each other in the final of the series, former cricketer Michael Vaughan took to Twitter to make an interesting prediction for this year’s T20 World Cup. The former England skipper said that the final of this year’s T20 World Cup might be a replay of the ongoing game in Ahmedabad.

He also predicted England to win, tweeting, “I reckon today’s T20 final could be the T20 World Cup final in 8 months … At the same venue … England to win …”

India and England are two of the favourites for this year’s marquee event which will be hosted by the former in October-November. Jos Buttler has already called India favourites for the tournament while Virat Kohli has termed England as favourites. Having  not won the T20 World Cup for more than a decade, both teams will be desperate to win the title this year,

India’s first and only triumph in the T20 World Cup came in its inaugural edition in 2007. England, on the other hand, won the title in 2010. India came close to winning the tournament in 2014 when they made it to the final before losing to Sri Lanka. In the following edition, England had made it to the final where they lost to West Indies.

Talking about the ongoing game, India are batting first after Eoin Morgan won the toss and decided to bowl first. At the time of compiling this report, the hosts were on 22 for no loss after three overs.
