Micheal Hussey names an Indian who would’ve been a handful in Australian conditions

The Indian team is scheduled to tour Australia for a T20I, Test and ODI series in a week’s time. Their campaign starts with the T20I at The Gabba in Brisbane on November 21. While India have been decent in the limited-overs format in their erstwhile tours of Australia, their record in the red-ball fixtures haven’t been all that great by any stretch of the imagination.

The squads for the Test and T20I series have already been announced. After their Test series’ defeats in South Africa and England, Virat Kohli and his troops would want to make amends and turn their wretched fortunes in Down Under. Recently, former Aussie batsman Michael Hussey mentioned that the Hardik Pandya’s style of play would’ve suited the conditions.

I do think India have a good chance

“I think Hardik is a wonderful talent and I am sure his game style would have been suited to the Australian conditions. Add to that, the balance he offers the team with his all-round abilities, yes I think his absence will hurt India,” Hussey was quoted as saying in Scroll.in.

Pandya couldn’t make the cut for both the T20I and Test series for the reason that he is recovering from an acute lower back injury from which he is suffering ever since India’s Group match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Moreover, Hussey also went on to say that India have a fair chance of coming out trumps in Australia. However, he also mentioned that the Australian bowling attack would be a tough nut to track for the visitors and the hosts.

“I do think India have a good chance as they have an excellent team with some very good fast bowlers. However, I think Australia’s bowling attack is world class and will challenge the Indian team, particularly the younger players in Australian conditions. Australia always play well at home and hence will be very hard to beat,” he added.
