Mickey Arthur reveals Pakistan’s best batsman at the moment
"He is so talented."
The Pakistani team is an enigma when it comes to performances, as one day they might be on top of the world, winning matches from impossible situations and the next day losing an easy match out of nowhere. But one thing is consistent for the Men in Green, that they receive a continuous supply of brilliant bowlers and batsmen, who keep on setting records after record.
Talking of batsmen, Pakistani coach Mickey Arthur recently revealed his team’s best batsman at the moment, someone on whom the team depends a lot and will be their key for the upcoming England ODI series and the ICC World Cup 2019. He named right-hander Babar Azam as the best in the national team at the moment.
Azam’s super form in recent times
“Our expectations are high from Babar Azam as he’s our best batsman. He is so talented, he is a batsman who gets the required scores,” Arthur was quoted as saying by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Azam, who is ranked no.1 in the ICC T20I batsmen ranking, is also one of the best ranked in Tests and ODIs as well. During the latest Test series against South Africa, Azam accumulated 221 runs, which included two half-centuries, in the Test series at an average of 36.83. In the following ODI series, he managed 195 runs with one fifty.
The 24-year-old showed his class by dispatching the likes of Dale Steyn with relative ease and his ability to soak up pressure where other batsmen of his team crumbled has risen his stakes high in the eyes of the team management and the coach. Ranked no.7 in ODIs, Azam has 2,462 runs in 59 matches with an average of 51.29 and the record suggests that he will be one of the biggest trump cards for the Sarfraz-led Pakistan team in the World Cup 2019.
