English batsman Sam Robson became the latest player to pick his All Time favorite XI. In the recent times, it has emerged as a trend wherein the players choose their favorite XI who they feel is the ideal pick of all time. Robson, one of the mainstays of the Middlesex county team, has been a juggernaut player in the English domestic circuit.

He has also represented the national side in 7 Test matches thus far and has a ton to his name too in Test cricket. Talking about his All Time XI, Sam Robson chose to pick a team of players that is dominated by the English faces. He also chose most of the players with whom he has played with or played against. He chose the former Australian opener and his fellow Middlesex batsman Chris Rogers to be the opener of his side.

Alongside Rogers, he picked former English skipper Alastair Cook to be his opening partner. He mentioned that Cook would be the captain of his dream team. At number 3, he named English batsman Ian Bell. Ian Bell is one of the finest batsmen to have played international cricket for England in the previous decade and a half.

A surprise inclusion comes at number 4, where Sam Robson picked Owais Shah. Owais made sporadic appearances for the national side but has been a good veteran in domestic circuit. Next in line comes Australian batsman Adam Voges. Voges had a phenomenal start to his Test career before dwindling down in the recent times. Then comes Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Robson rightly noted that Kohli is one of the top batsmen of the generation and perhaps is among the best too, if not the best.

He further noted Kumar Sangakkara to be the wicketkeeper of his team. The only spinner to have made it in Robson’s All Time XI is Murali Karthik. Albeit Karthik played a handful of matches for India, he was a mainstay of the Middlesex bowling lineup for a very long period. The pace bowling is an England heavy trio. He named James Anderson, Steven Finn and Stuart Broad to be the three pacers in his line up.

Sam Robson’s All Time XI:

Chris Rogers, Alastair Cook (c), Ian Bell, Owais Shah, Adam Voges, Virat Kohli, Kumar Sangakkara, Murali Karthik, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Steven Finn.
