Middlesex ropes in Mujeeb Ur Rahman for T20 Blast 2020
Mujeeb Ur Rahman played for Middlesex in the previous season and took seven wickets in 10 games.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman, the right arm off break spinner has emerged as one of the best spinners in recent years. He made his debut for Afghanistan back in 2017 from ODIs and since then he has established himself as a regular player for his national squad in the limited-overs format. And now, he has signed a new deal with Middlesex for the upcoming T20 Blast tournament.
The Afghan spinner is ranked 3rd in the ODIs and 2nd in T20Is in the latest rankings released by ICC. He has the experience of playing for many sides in the T20 leagues organized across the globe. In the previous season of Big Bash League, he played for Brisbane Heat and impressed everyone. He grabbed as many as 12 wickets in the tournament, returning with a best figure of 3 for 16. He was also the second leading wicket-taker for his side. The 18-year-old plays for Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League and was bought by them in IPL 2018 auction after paying a hefty amount of INR 4 Cr.

Middlesex recently roped in Mujeeb for T20 Blast 2020. The off-spinner played for the same side in the previous season of the league. And, after penning down a deal, the Afghan spinner looked quite excited and said that he had enjoyed his time earlier with the team and it feels good to be back with them again. The young spinner also hopes for a successful upcoming season.
“I enjoyed my time at Middlesex so much, so I am very pleased to be coming back,” said Mujeeb on his return. The whole team, on and off the field, made me feel very welcome and hopefully we can be successful together next season,” Mujeeb Ur Rahman said as quoted by Cricbuzz.
After securing the services of Mujeeb, Middlesex coach, Stuart Law said that it is great to have him in the team. He is an exceptional bowler and his ability to bowl economically in the powerplays in the shorter format is invaluable. The head coach also added that his presence one of the players, who are great to have in any dressing room.
“It’s great to have Mujeeb locked in for the Blast again in 2020. His ability to bowl economically in the powerplay is invaluable and he’s a great man to have in the dressing room,” Middle sex coach added.
The 18-year-old, in the previous season playing for Middlesex, took seven wickets in 10 games at an economy of 7.23.
