India is locking horns against England in the second T20 International of the five-match series at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. Team India entered the contest with two debutants including Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan. The match commenced with Virat Kohli winning the toss and inviting Eoin Morgan side to bat first.
Batting first, England had a disastrous start to their batting innings as Indian bowlers went all guns blazing against the opponent’s feeble batting line-up. Veteran right-arm seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave the first breakthrough to the host side the form of wicket of wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler in the first over only.
This was followed by Jason Roy and Dawid Malan stitching a crucial partnership to bring the visiting team back into the game. The two collected 63 runs in eight overs to take England’s total to 64/1. However, Yuzvendra Chahal managed to pick the wicket of Malan in the ninth over to give a much-needed break to the Men in Blue.
After this, there was a collapse of the visitors batting line-up as no batsman apart from Jason Roy could touch the figure of 30 runs. Jason was the highest run-getter with 46 runs as England posted a total of 164 runs on the board. For India Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur picked two wickets each while Bhuvneshwar and Chahal had one each to their names.
Virat Kohli trends on Twitter
Like England, India received their first hiccup early as KL Rahul, who was opening the innings alongside Ishan Kishan, went back to the pavilion in the first over after scoring a six-ball duck. Then entered Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Virat was coming on the back of a poor form as in his last two outings for India, he failed to open his account and had to leave the field the field on a duck.
This resulted in the Twitterati trolling the Indian skipper after he scored his first run in the second T20I after scoring two international ducks. Virat opened his account against Jofra Archer on the third ball of the second over. It seems that the batting maestro has finally regained his form as he is presenting a stellar show in the game and ic urrently batting at 44 runs (at the time of writing.)
