Misbah-ul-Haq has no regrets about his scoop shot in the WT20 final 2007
In a recent event, the former Pakistani captain mentioned that he has no regrets for his shot on which he was dismissed in the final of the World T20 in 2007.
24th September, 2007, is the historic date that listed one of the most prestigious and memorable moments in the history of Indian cricket. On that day, India claimed a massive and unbelievable victory against the arch-rivals Pakistan to be crowned as the champions of the inaugural edition of the World T20 2007 in South Africa.
Former Pakistan cricketer Misbah was playing a spectacular knock to lead his side to the victory, however, his one scoop shot on which he was dismissed, totally changed the outcome of the game. Nearly after 11 years span, the former Pakistani cricketer revealed his views on the shot of the final match, which tilted the game in India’s favour.
The arch-rivals faced each other twice in the tournament in 2007. Their first match during the league stages was an equally thrilling and breath-taking encounter, which first up ended up in a tie. Thus, the results would then be calculated in the first ever Bowl Out in an international game. India won the match in the Bowl Out pretty convincingly.
Joginder Sharma becomes the hero after the final over
In the tensed and crucial final game, India batted first and scored 157-5 in their 20 overs, as opener Gautam Gambhir played a splendid knock of 75 runs. During the nervy run-chase, the Pakistan team lost regular wickets on consistent intervals, which was making troublesome for themselves. But their batsman Misbah was looking in a sensational touch as he was striking the ball nicely to take the game away from India.
With just 13 runs needed from the final over, the Indian skipper MS Dhoni took the most surprising decision then and handed the ball to Joginder Sharma to bowl the penultimate over. It was an enormous pressure situation for Joginder and things became worse as Misbah striked the second ball for a huge six straight down the ground. With just six runs required off four deliveries, Misbah played a scoop shot on the third ball which was pouched by S Sreesanth who was positioned at the fine leg and India won the game and the trophy.

In a recent event, the former Pakistani captain mentioned that he has no regrets for his shot on which he was dismissed in the final of the World T20 in 2007. He also mentioned that the happening was surely going through in his mind for a few days but then was a thing of past after some days.
“No regrets about that shot at the end of the World T20 final against India. It hurt for a few days then you move on from it,” said Misbah as quoted by Newsone.tv.
