Mitchell Johnson makes a sarcastic comment on his expectation from Virat Kohli at MCG

When Australia play India, former Aussie pacer Mitchell Johnson can never be far away from it. On Wednesday, Day 1 of the third Test between the two countries in Melbourne, the former cricketer found himself involved in an exchange of words with an Indian fan and topic was, guess who, Virat Kohli. Johnson has been found to be critical of the Indian captain in the ongoing series in the recent past and he made yet another comment in reply to the Indian social media user about Kohli’s batting.

Johnson shared a photo of a flat road on Twitter on the morning of the Boxing Day, perhaps denoting the flat surface on which the current Test is being played. The fan then took it as an excuse by the Australian to show in case Kohli hits yet another hundred to add to his tally of 25 in the longest format. It was then when the 37-year-old said that if Virat Kohli didn’t hit a hundred on the wicket at the MCG, he should retire.

The fan then responded saying that even that didn’t make a problem since Kohli “already achieved everything” at the age of 30 which the Australian bowler didn’t even at the age of 36. Johnson then corrected the fan saying he was 37 and not 36 and was happy with whatever he has achieved in his career.

Johnson, who played international cricket between 2005 and 2015, has taken nearly 600 wickets besides scoring over 3,000 runs. Johnson criticised Kohli for his on-field gestures in the second Test in Perth, including the latter deciding against walking away straight after getting caught very low in the slips. During his playing days too, Johnson had clashed with Kohli on the field.

Kohli remained not out on 47 on Day 1

Kohli ended the Boxing Day on 47 as India finished at 215 for 2 in an otherwise slow batting display. Debutant Mayank Agarwal was the attraction of the day with his 76 while Cheteshwar Pujara remained not out on 68 and added unbeaten 92 runs with his captain for the third wicket. The other opener, Hanuma Vihari, however, managed just eight. Pat Cummins was the pick of the Australian bowlers with both the wickets that fell during the day.
