Former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson came out in support of Australian team recently. Team Australia have been having a tough time in the recent past. They lost 5-0 to South Africa in the ODI series recently. They had even been whitewashed by Sri Lanka in the Test series. After having lost the first Test of their 3-match Test series at Perth, Australian team faced heavy criticism. All eyes were set on the second Test and Australia choked again as they bundled out for 85.

Comments from pundits and former cricketers came flooding. While everyone has been scrutinizing Australia’s poor performances, Mitchell Johnson came out to bat for the Aussies. Former cricketers including former South African skipper Graeme Smith have been scrutinizing the Australian team with their remarks. Johnson found it apt to reply it in his own way.

He was quick to post a picture that had the most embarrassing moments of South African cricket. The picture essentially displayed how South Africa have been choking at crunch situations over the years. Clearly, the remarks against his homeland did not go down well with the former Aussie quickie. He added a caption along with the picture. The tweet read, “Australia have coped it and yes they aren’t performing but when comments come from SA @NeilManthorp @GraemeSmith49 remember the big moments!”

The picture has 7 pictures that depict the 7 disappointments that South Africa have had in the ODI World Cups since 1992. The first one shows the 1992 World Cup exit of South Africa. In another picture, it is the 1999 World Cup when South Africa were ousted out of the World Cup despite heroics of Lance Klusener against Australia in the knockouts. The 2003 World Cup picture sees the then skipper of South Africa Shaun Pollock having his palms on his face in disappointment. South Africa were the hosts of 2003 World Cup.

The most recent disappointment that South Africa had was in the 2015 ICC World Cup when they lost the semi-final clash against New Zealand and choked yet again. South Africa have been given the tag of chokers by many critics. Mitchell Johnson has just resurfaced the claim. Clearly the Australians like hitting back at the critics!
