Mitchell Johnson who retired from international cricket in November last year signed for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League after an impressive international career but he will come up against his new teammates in the upcoming encounter at the Aquinas College Ground in Perth.

This will be Johnson’s first match ahead of BBL 6 with the Scorchers who are also scheduled to play two internal practice matches next week. Former West Indies great Brian Lara has confirmed as a starter along with other Australian greats Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting and Andrew Symonds. South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs will join Lara in the Legend’s side along with Ryan Campbell who will fly in from Hong Kong.

With the buzz surrounding the match to see the legends of the game for yet another time, the match will be streamed live on cricket.com.au and the CA Live app for free. The Festival of Cricket has become one of the most anticipated events of the year with a limited amount of tickets left for the match at the Aquinas College Ground in Perth.

“The Festival of Cricket presents the public and corporates with a unique opportunity to not only watch a high-quality T20 match in a relaxed, social environment but also to mix and mingle with many current and past greats of the game,” Gilchrist has said of the event.

“The chance to run around with a bunch of old mates and pit ourselves against the Scorchers is exciting and sure to be entertaining for all.”

This will be the 3rd occasion when the Perth Scorchers will face the Legends and though the match is expected to see many legends it action, it will provide the BBL outfit to get a good amount of match practice ahead of season 6.
