After managing just 14 runs in four innings against Pakistan in a two-Test series in the UAE in October, Australia’s top-order batsman Shaun Marsh’s international career faced an uncertainty. But the left-hander hit form in a majestic way soon after the Test series and now might have made it too difficult for the selectors to ignore him for the upcoming Test series against India.
After the Pakistan debacle, Marsh hit 80 and 98 for Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield against Tasmania; smashed 106 against South Africa in the final ODI at Hobart in the recent three-match series and then scored 163 not out for Western Australia against South Australia in a Shield match again.
The drastic change of form now makes him almost a certainty for the Tests against Virat Kohli’s men. Marsh, son of former Australian opener Geoff Marsh, averages only 21.10 in 11 Tests against India with the highest score of 99.
Geoff Lawson wants Australia to ‘move on’ from Marsh brothers
Marsh has also got a backing from former Australian quick Mitchell Johnson who felt the former should be included for the Test series versus India. The 37-year-old former left-hand fast bowler who has almost 600 international wickets gave his opinion in reply to a question on Australia fast bowler Geoff Lawson’s advice that it was time for Australian selectors to “move on” from the Marsh brothers — Shaun and Mitch.
Well done Shaun Marsh on another 100. Apparently it’s time to move on, yep move on to the test series against India. Let’s start backing the players picked especially past players of the game. https://t.co/LNfrty5wgL

Shaun having played 34 Tests, has scored 2,082 runs at an average of 35.28 with six hundreds. His 27-year-old brother Mitchell is an all-rounder who has 1,200 runs from 30 matches in Tests, along with 35 wickets.
Australia are likely to name their squad for the first Test of the series after the three-match T20I series concludes on November 25. The first of the four Tests will be played in Adelaide from December 6. India haven’t won a Test series in Australia ever while they have last won a Test match in Australia in 2008. Following the Test series, the two teams will play in a three-match ODI series.
