Mitchell Marsh has effortlessly been one of Australia’s most vibrant youngsters. He has grown in stature as a cricketer and is currently a vital element of Australia’s setup in all formats of the game. The Perth cricketer has been equally stupendous with both bat and ball. Recently, he played a match-saving knock of 29 runs off 166 balls, which denied England their maiden victory on the tour.
He has also emerged a handy all-rounder in the celebrated Indian Premier League. He was sold for a whopping 4.8 crores to the Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016. However, as per reports on Cricbuzz, the swashbuckling talent will play county cricket for Surrey this year under the guidance of Michael de Venuto.
No IPL for Marsh
Meanwhile, he won’t be taking part in the cash-rich Indian domestic league. In a recent interview, he spoke about his decision to the media. “That’s the lure of the IPL, the money and playing in India, but I made my decision based on cricket, “It was a fairly big decision from a money point of view.”- Marsh remarked.
The all-rounder also highlighted his future endeavours with the Australian cricket team. “We’ve got a lot of cricket coming up in England over the next few years and I want to give myself the best opportunity (to perform in 2019) … and get used to the conditions.” He added. The auctions for the eleventh season of the IPL is scheduled for 27th and 28th of January.
Star India to telecast IPL 2018
Star India has recently bagged the broadcasting rights from Sony. The change in broadcasters has led to the increase of 20 percent in the salary-cap of players. Mitchell Marsh could easily have earned big had he opted for the lucrative Indian tournament. However, it’s a heartening to seem him organise his priorities and take the brave decision.
