Jasprit Bumrah has been India’s go-to bowler in the death. However, he was brought to the big stage by the Mumbai Indians. Bumrah was given his maiden chance in 2013 and did pretty well for the Mumbai side. MI is known for giving the youngsters in their roster a chance.
The Gujarat pacer was one of those youngsters with some rare talent. His action was unusual but he was extremely effective. The batsmen fail to read as he generates a lot of pace. On his debut, he was hit for three consecutive boundaries by Virat Kohli but got his wicket on the next ball. He also grabbed Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair’s wicket and ended up with 3 for 32.
Bumrah is a regular in the team ever since and has developed under the guidance of Lasith Malinga. He has perfected that yorker of his. That is the reason why he is almost impossible to hit in the death overs. However, his form in the Champions Trophy was not up to the mark and he was criticised for the same.
The Jaipur police controversy
The 23-year-old was made an example by the Jaipur police as they posted a picture of his no-ball in the final against Pakistan and collaged it with cars behind a zebra crossing. They captioned it as “Don’t cross the line” mocking the Indian fast bowler.
Bumrah was left furious because of this and his reaction was understandable. He tweeted saying that this is what one gets for giving his best on the field for their country. He also said that he would never do that to anyone else as he knows how to appreciate others.
Bumrah tweeted, “@traffic_jpr well done Jaipur traffic police this shows how much respect you get after giving your best for the country. But don’t worry I won’t make fun of the mistakes which you guys make at your work .because I believe humans can make mistakes.”
