Mitchell Starc admits the secret plan to get Brendon McCullum out early: Australian pacer, Mitchell Starc, who was also declared as the Player of the Tournament of the world cup 2015, has disclosed his secret plan to dismiss Brendon McCullum early in the innings and said he was happy to see that plan reap fruit.

Starc who has been Australia’s best bowler in the tournament began the proceedings with the new ball, as soon as Martin Guptil took a single it brought McCullum on strike. The pacer bowled a perfect length and high pace fuller delivery, Baz went for it and missed, to hit him apart the batsman came down the track on the next ball, but Starc followed him and it was another dot. That got the otherwise uncontrolled and explosive Kiwi skipper under pressure. The 3rd ball that he faced was a perfect Yorker, bowled at express pace and right on the money, it hit the off stump on its way. This wicket in the very first over which laid the map for New Zealand’s batting to crumble.

Starc was quoted by PTI saying, “It’s nice to see bat dominate ball every now and again. There’s been some fantastic performances with both. Obviously it’s been a couple of big scores, a couple of double tons. Look, it’s just been fantastic the whole tournament and I guess from the Australian point of view, I think we’ve worked really hard at our bowling.

“Not only in the World Cup but leading up to it, and to see it come off, I think every bowler who’s bowled in the tournament, not just the guys who played the final, it’s been fantastic, “he said.

The 25-year-old left-arm fast bowler finished ICC’s greatest 50-over tournament as leading wicket-taker equivalent to another left armer, New Zealand’s Trent Boult who also concurred 22 wickets.

Another high point in his success in the tournament includes the spell of two for 20 in eight over’s in the final against New Zealand at a 3.5 runs per over economy rate, Starc said, “We have all complemented each other throughout the whole tournament. I’m speaking on behalf of the Australian squad anyway. But yeah, look, it’s been awesome. We’ve got guys who do things differently in the 15, got guys who can swing it, guys who can bowl — a few guys who can bowl in the 150s. Jimmy (Faulkner) comes in and uses variations better than most people.”

Mitchell Starc had entered the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 as one among the top ODI bowlers and he gained 147 ratings points, during the tournament. This performance has helped Starc reach career high and best rank in the ODI bowlers ranking, as he is at the 1st position in the list now replacing Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal.
