Mitchell Starc geared up for arch rivals England at the Champions Trophy

Mitchell Starc is up and ready for Australia’s upcoming fixture against arch rivals England on June 10 at Edgbaston in the Champions Trophy. The Australian wants his team to take revenge of their humiliating loss in the Ashes back in 2015. Starc last played in the Bangalore Test match against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy where he injured his foot and was out of action for a considerable amount of time.

However, the fierce-some seamer is back on the field again, preparing for the Champions Trophy. Starc specifically mentioned that they would want to make a statement against their arch rivals and gain a psychological advantage ahead of the all important Ashes later this year, in their own backyard. Currently, England holds the urn after defeating the Michael Clarke-led side by 3-2 in August 2015.

“Because it’s such a short tournament, you basically need to win every game anyway. So every game is going to be important, but with the Ashes on later in the year, there’s always going to be a little bit of momentum there if we can knock the Poms off, especially in England, and if we can create a few headaches with our quicks especially” stated the seamer from New South Wales according to cricket.com.au.

Starc mentioned that even though both the teams have different assignments in between the Champions Trophy and Ashes later in the summer, Aussies would want to gain some extra intel for the weaknesses of the English which would prove handy during the all-important series Downunder.

“Both teams have got a fair amount of cricket between the Champions Trophy and the Ashes, but it’s always important to beat the Poms whenever we play them,And hopefully, we can create a bit of doubt or open up a few old wounds or find a few extra weaknesses heading into the summer back here,” concluded Starc.
