Mitchell Starc impressed with 'The Fizz'

Mustafizur Rahman has impressed one and all ever since his debut last year. His cutters have deceived the best of the batsmen and his line and length would make a bowling coach proud. The latest person to be impressed by ‘The Fizz’ is none other than Australian speedster Mitchell Starc.

Starc, one of the fiercest bowlers in the world at the moment, ripped apart the Bangladeshi line-up in their second match of the Champions Trophy picking up 4/29 from 8.3 overs. On Mustafizur Rahman, Starc commented,” Mustafizur obviously is a very young and class bowler and he has got a lot of respect on him”. Starc also said that he feels Mustafizur has a bright future ahead of him.

Starc on Bangladesh and the England pitches

Starc also lavished praise on Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal who scored a gutsy 95 when wickets tumbled around him. He was quoted as saying, “Obviously he took his time and made his way to 95. Yes, probably he was the pillar of the innings but not too much scoring around him. He did score a hundred in the first game as well”.

Starc also termed the England pitches as being flat. He said the domestic scores over the past few months have proved that by registering high scores and in the first few matches in the Champions Trophy as well registering scores in excess of 300 in most of them. He commented that the pitch was not conducive to swing but as the wickets get old and the ball tends to spin and grip a little, the scores might come down.

Starc also reflected on the Australian bowling performance saying that some of the balls bounced pretty well and the Aussies would only be served well by using their extra pace and bounce especially against the sub-continent teams. He said that they improved on their length from the New Zealand game and the result was there to be seen.
