No one loves to face bouncers whistling past their ears at over 145 km/h and on tracks like these, it only gets more difficult.

Just before The Ashes commenced, Mitchell Starc pulled the spotlight towards himself with a breathtaking rendition in the Sheffield Shield. The fiery fast bowler picked up 2 hat-tricks in a single game and sent a warning to the English camp before they entered the land of Kangaroos. Certainly, he was on fire and he justified it with a brilliant performance in the first innings of the Gabba Test.

Although he picked only three wickets, he made the batters stutter a lot with his steamy bouncers and extra pace. With the wicket assisting him and providing that extra bit of bounce, Starc was relishing the opportunity of bowling on these tracks. The 27-year-old is touted to be the fear factor in the Aussie side, reminiscent of the Johnson show in the 2013/14 Ashes.

Well, only time will decide if he can pull off anything of that caliber, but he already has made the batters worry. No one loves to face bouncers whistling past their ears at over 145 km/h and on tracks like these, it only gets more difficult.

Joe Root struck on the head off a brutal bouncer

The English skipper Joe Root had a horrifying moment in the 7th over of the game when Starc bowled a bouncer at 144.4 km/h. Root could neither duck nor get on top of the ball to defend it and he was left in no man’s land. The ball struck straight on his helmet and it looked terrifying on the naked-eye.

All the Australian players including the bowler Starc, David Warner, Steve Smith, and Shaun Marsh rushed towards Root to check if he was fine. The players had a little chat about it and Root kept nodding his head, which suggested he was fine. The physio was on the field for a moment and Root changed his helmet later on.

Here’s the video of that nasty delivery
