Indian Women’s team skipper Mithali Raj was one of the key cogs in the team’s success in the recently concluded World Cup. It was because of Mithali’s leadership skills, that the Indian eves went really close to lifting their maiden 50 overs world championship title. However, that was not to happen as hosts England eclipsed India in the finals to secure their 4th World Cup.

Following their return, the Indian team witnessed a warm welcome. Apart from a felicitation ceremony organized by Indian PM Narendra Modi in the national capital, most of the players have received separate gifts or remunerations from their respective states. Being dubbed as the dark horses, their spectacular performance in the quadrennial event had made them overnight heroes.

However, despite their heroics, they still could not win over the derogatory mindset of the society. Recently, skipper Mithali Raj along with teammate Veda Krishnamurthy and former cricketer Mamatha Maben were at Karnataka Institute Of Cricket (KIOC) for an inauguration ceremony. Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa was also there. It was an eventful day with the cricketers taking to Twitter to share their best moments with the fans.

Mithali too posted a picture of the girl trio present at the ceremony. However, what followed next could only be termed as malicious or scathing. A user went on to criticize the sweat that was visible from Mithali’s armpit and made a mockery out of it. The user, who goes by the handle of @ashimdchoudhury tweeted, “sorry Smt Captain, hahaha odd looking. the fasina wet”

The comment subsequently infuriated the Indian skipper. And she made it extremely clear that she wouldn’t entertain such illicit behaviour and that someone’s sweat is not a topic for mockery. She tweeted, “I m where I m because I sweated it out on d field! I see no reason 2 b ashamed f it, when I’m on d ground inaugerating a cricket academy.”
