Mohammad Amir all set to feature in The Hundred after international retirement

The game of cricket is unique because of the fact that there are different formats of the game that are played. There is Test cricket, which is played over 5 days, there is ODI cricket, where each team plays 50 overs, and then there is T20I cricket, and as the name suggests, each team plays 20 overs.

Now, there is a new format that is knocking the doors of the sport- The Hundred. In this format, a team will be given 100 balls, and it is a totally new concept. And, The Hundred will be making its debut this year. There will be eight franchises that would be taking part in the maiden edition of the tournament that will take place in England.

Now, it has been confirmed that Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Amir will be a part of cricket’s new innovative format. Amir was recently caught in the eye of the storm when he announced his international retirement at the age of 28. He had blamed the Pakistan team management, even alleged that he was being mentally tortured and walked away from the international arena.

 High-profile names signed for The Hundred apart from Mohammad Amir

Apart from Amir, there are several other high-profile names that will take part in the tournament. England’s limited overs specialist Jason Roy, unorthodox spinner Sunil Narine, Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi and England wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow are some of the other names that will take part in The Hundred.

As far as Mohammad Amir is concerned, he has had a roller coaster career in the international arena. After showing a lot of promise in his initial days, the left-arm pacer was convicted in the spot fixing case that sent shockwaves throughout the cricketing world in the year 2010. Mohammad Amir, pacer Mohammad Asif and former skipper Salman Butt were all convicted for spot fixing in a Test match against England at Lord’s and bringing disrepute to the game.

As far as Amir’s international career is concerned, the left-arm fast bowler played 61 ODI’s and 50 T20I’s for his country. Amir took 81 wickets in ODI cricket, while he scalped 59 wickets in the T20I format. In the whites, Amir represented Pakistan in 36 Test matches and took 119 wickets. It will be interesting to see if Mohammad Amir will once again wear the Pakistan jersey and represent them in the international arena.
