Pakistani speedster Mohammad Amir is all pumped up to play for the national setup in the upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy. Pakistan will start their campaign against the arch-rivals India in their first match of the tournament on June 4 at Birmingham. Interestingly, this will be the first time the two teams will face off against each other after the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup.
As per the recent reports in geo.tv, Mohammad Amir feels that the matches between India and Pakistan often boil down to one important factor and that is pressure. He feels that the team which handles pressure well on the given day will prevail. The Pakistani team has an upsetting record in the ICC World Cups against India. However, when it comes to the Champions Trophy, they nose ahead of their neighbors.
Amir further spoke about his own form. He noted that in the recent tour to West Indies, he bowled long spells in the Test series. He believes that bowling long spells has surely helped his game a great deal in the recent times. Also, he noted that he is content with the way he is bowling. He remarked that his line and length is getting better and better with each passing day.
On the English conditions
Amir also cited that the conditions in England have always been supportive for the pace bowlers. Hence, he will fancy his chances in the tournament. Recently, former New Zealand pacer Shane Bond had also talked about the same factor. Needless to say, the tournament could well be dominated by pace bowlers.
“I bowled long spells in the West Indies tour. I am getting back my swing and my line and length are getting better day by day. The conditions here favor bowlers, hopefully, I will be good here too,” quoted Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir.
