Recently a tweet from the veteran Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar left everyone astonished. Announcing a supposed appearance in the PSL, that starts on February 14, Akhtar has left everyone in anticipation. The ex Pakistan cricketer retired from international cricket in 2011 and has appeared in exhibition games, including the Sachin’s Blasters vs Warne’s Warriors match in the United States. Regarded as the fastest bowler in history, Akhtar has 178 and 247 Test and ODI wickets respectively to his name. Besides he has also bagged 19 wickets in his short-lived T20I career.

Akhtar’s original Tweet said, “Hello 14th February is the date, mark your calendars guys. Main bhi araha hun iss baar league khelnay. Aakhir inn bachon ko bhi pata chalay kay tezi hoti kia hai! #shoaibisback #Pakistan”. This he said in a video message on his Twitter account.

Translation: “The children of today think they know a lot [about the sport] and they also think that they can challenge my bowling speed as well. So, I am coming back to play and I will show you what speed really is.” Earlier, the legend Wasim Akram expressed his shock over Akhtar’s tweet with a reply to it. To quote Akram- ” Shaibi.. Is this actually happening? You’re coming back? The kids these days could use some of your tezi[pace]. #shoaibisback.”

Amir’s Response

Like Wasim Akram, the widely known Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir was well surprised. But Amir’s tweet had much more excitement to express than shock. “Sirrrr… Aap ki tezi ko Hum sab bohat miss karte hain.. We need you!! Aajaaen Aur chhaa jaaen!! #Shoaibisback @shoaib100mph,” read Amir’s comment in response to Shoaib Akhtar’s tweet.

To give a gist of Amir’s tweet, he has addressed the ex speedster to bless them with his presence in the PSL. “We miss your speed a lot and we need you, Sir. Come join us and flourish!” It is for sure that Akhtar will make an appearance in PSL 4. But to know what exactly his role will be, all we got to do is wait till February 14.
