With less than a day for the high-voltage India-Pakistan clash, fans are finding it difficult to wait anymore. All the fans will have their eyes glued to the Television sets. But Pakistani speedster Mohammad Amir will have his looks transfixed on the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Ahead of their first match of the Champions Trophy 2017, he feels that the wicket of the 28-year-old Indian skipper will be the most crucial.
Amir was termed as a ‘special talent’ by the former Pakistani speedster Wasim Akram when he was just 18 years of age. But his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal ruined his fame. Amir’s fiery bowling after comeback showed exactly what Pakistan missed in all these years. He is just 25 years old and has age on his side. The Punjab-born left-arm pacer now wishes to impress at the big stage.
“We know how important is Kohli’s wicket and if we get him early then we can put India under pressure. We have discussed some plans in bowlers’ meeting with Azhar Mahmood (bowling coach) so hopefully we will execute them,” said the owner of 50 ODI wickets while speaking to ARY News. “Kohli is a world class player and that gift has been special for me. We share good bond off the field,” he further added.
He further added that he is aiming for a five-wicket haul against the formidable Indian batting lineup. “Yeah, I am hoping to get wickets and if they are five I will take them any day. I know my responsibility to take wickets upfront and that will put India on the back foot,” said Amir ahead of the match.
Sachin’s wicket was special
Recalling how he picked up the wicket of the legend Sachin Tendulkar, Amir said that the Master Blaster’s wicket was special. “Yes that was very special. I got Sachin and that made me proud. In the same manner Kohli’s wickets will be memorable,” said the Karachi Kings pacer.
He concluded by demanding more cricket between the two concerned nations. “Put politics aside and we should play more and more cricket. People want to watch this match because it’s the greatest match on the international stage,” was Amir’s well-though verdict.
