Mohammad Amir is one of the best fast bowlers out there right now. He has been through a lot in his young career so far. After being called as the future legend of Pakistan at the age of 18 and then being involved in a match-fixing scandal, Amir has come a long way.
Mohammad Amir was involved in a match-fixing scandal in 2009 and was banished from cricket with his teammates Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif. However, the ban was lifted and Amir was back in action after 5 years. It was a no-brainer for the selectors as they brought him right in and he delivered. He has been bowling beautifully ever since.
The left-arm speedster had a wonderful outing in the Champions Trophy this year as his team managed to win the tournament against all the odds. It was this man who did the damage upfront which helped Pakistan script a historic win at The Oval. Amir was at his profound best. He was bowling at express pace and was swinging the ball both ways.
Amir’s destructive spell
India were chasing a huge total in the finals and they needed a brisk start. However, Amir did not allow them as he toppled the Indian top order by picking up three crucial wickets. The man in form hit the jackpot as he sent back Rohit Sharma for a duck in the first over. He then got rid of Virat Kohli moments later only and as soon as Shikhar Dhawan started to get himself in, Amir dismissed him as well.
It was three big wickets that caused the havoc which followed. This kind of bowling inspired them to a famous victory over their arch-rivals India. This earned him his first ICC medal and what a way it was to grab it.
Essex to be Amir’s new home
After a successful Champions Trophy, the 25-year-old has now signed for the county club Essex. He will bowl his fast left armers for them this summer in England. The Essex Twitter handle wrote, “Watch @iamamirofficial in action this summer in the @NatWestT20Blast, with tickets on sale now & selling fast.”
