Mohammad Amir takes a jibe at Ramiz Raja over his claims of not taking salary from PCB

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has again hogged the limelight with a controversial statement. The left-arm pacer took a sly dig at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja over his comments that he won’t charge any money as salary during his tenure. Amir retaliated Raja’s claim by highlighting the fact that the PCB chairman doesn’t receive the monthly paycheck but gets plenty of other benefits.

For the unversed, Ramiz Raja, who assumed the position at the helm last month, made the comment while addressing club presidents in Pakistan on Wednesday (October 20). With the former Pakistan captain being a renowned commentator, Raja asserted that he sacrificed his career in order to take Pakistan cricket forward. Raja also said he doesn’t regret not having a massive house or expensive assets.

“I have come to this cricket board without any salary. I won’t get a single penny for the next three years. I have sacrificed my ongoing career to take up this post. The car that I own is a 2008 model one. I don’t regret the fact that I don’t own a big house or a fancy car or money. Many a time, you need to play an innings for the honor,” said Raja.

While Raja’s words earned praises from many members of the cricket fraternity, Amir took to Twitter and took a cheeky dig at the 59-year-old.

Tagging the new PCB boss in his post, the speedster wrote: “me ne jahan tak suna hai PCB k chairman ki monthly pay ni hoti but benefits hote hain might b m wrong suna to esa hi hai (To the extent I know, PCB Chairman is not paid a monthly salary but gets a lot of benefits. I may be wrong, but this is what I have heard).”

Meanwhile, Amir has been among controversies ever since he prematurely called a time on his international career in December 2020. The 29-year-old cited differences with board officials and team management behind his decision. Although Amir, earlier this year, revealed that he would play for the national team if his issues are addressed, there hasn’t been any development regarding his comeback.
