Mohammad Amir unlikely to play the 3rd T20I against England due to hamstring injury
After having a hamstring injury, the pacer is unsure of making his comeback in the coming T20I against the hosts
Pakistan and England are currently locking horns in the T20I series setting the action at Old Trafford, Manchester. The visitors lost the 2nd game by five wickets even after posting the record total of 195/4 on board. Things are already not going in favour of the Men in Green since the Test series and their ace pacer Mohammad Amir has sustained an injury now.
As per reports, Amir has sustained a hamstring injury and won’t be available for the third and final T20I on Tuesday. During the second match between the two nations, he limped off after just bowling two overs wherein he conceded 25 runs. A final decision on whether he would play or not is still awaited, and it will come anytime soon.
“He’s feeling pain in his right hamstring, it’s been iced and they (Pakistan’s medical staff) will see him tomorrow (Monday),” a team’s spokesperson was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
However, Pakistan seem ready for the damage control, as they have three pacers on the bench for this series in the form of Mohammad Hasnain, Naseem Shah, and Wahab Riaz. One of the better-suited candidates will be included in the playing XI for the series finale on Tuesday in case Mohammad Amir is deemed unfit to take the field.
England lead the series 1-0
Pakistan will be facing hosts in the series finale to draw the series and end the tour on a high. The Men in Green saw the face of loss even in the 3-match Test series, where the English team walked off lifting the series 1-0. The first T20I got washed off midway due to rain, and England chased down 196 to take the lead in the second.
Eoin Morgan’s innings of 66 runs became instrumental in pushing the team towards victory with five balls to spare. Even Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was impressive with his bat, but his decision-making skills and lack of confidence in the team is being criticised heavily. The team would try its best to level up the series on Tuesday.
